Inspiration
June 21, 2009Lately I have been doing a lot of soul searching, and seeing if this photography thing is really something I want to pursue further, and even if this is something I want to do part time. Of course I love my camera and I love working with my great clients, but after loosing my full time job it has also become a financial issue too. I am have been exploring different options, including other full time jobs, going back to school to learn and grow more in my technical skills and knowledge, and also pursuing other business opportunities. Any advice would be appreciated!
Anyways, in my explorations I have also come to figure out the reason I do what I do. I can’t put it into words very well, but I know that when I am working with brides and grooms and sharing the first day of the rest of your lives together, it’s all about you. I love sharing the little things with you, such as being the only person sharing the first few minutes after the ceremony with you in a secluded room above the chapel, or grabbing shots as a bride whispers meaningful words into her new husband’s ear. It amazes me how each wedding is different, unique, and yet insanely wonderful, and it’s the little things that show me how love is expressed. My goal is to grab as many of these tender moments and preserve them as more than just memories, but rather as a lasting proof.
A few days ago I was looking at a camera forum, and I stumbled upon this AMAZING video shot by the wonderful team at http://www.stillmotion.ca. To me this video is the essence of what I want to do, and I’ll be working hard and striving to be able to do what they have done, regardless of which artistic medium is used. I won’t say anymore, but I’ll let their work speak for itself. (And don’t worry, I ask permission to post it here:))
Oh and I nearly forgot, Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there! Thank you Dad for everything you have done for me – including buying me my first SLR (which I promptly broke!)

Have a nice weekend!
I’m a software developer, working for a big corporation, and passion for photography is waking up in me. It’s been the recent months that I started learning, each time I take my camera, I learn something new and it’s so fascinating. It’s such a joy to see my pictures from 6 months ago and now.. and there’s a HUGE difference! This whole photography thing adds an entirely new dimension to my life, and it has actually changed how I look at things.
Ok, I don’t photograph people, I don’t have the courage yet. I only shoot friends occassionally and they are always greateful for the shots, and once they see results of one session, they always want more
Anyway.. what I want to say.. this whole photography thing is something I really enjoy doing. I enjoyed software development years ago, at a university level. Now, being a tiny piece in this corporate machine.. working every day in the same office, and the only contact with people is your manager asking you why you didn’t meet your deadline.. and meetings, that are just corporate political wars with smiles on everybody’s faces. Now this makes me seriously think about quitting my job and changing my career path to something I love. If it wasn’t a financial risk, I’d do it right now. Working in a big corporation does give you financial safety. But it is in conflict with the insider in me, the independent dreamer with a passion. Working late hours in a profit-focused company doesn’t leave a lot of space in your life for self development & passions. When I get back home, I’m too tired of thinking, so the only thing I think of is preparing dinner, checking facebook and going to sleep
Well.. I just thought I’d share, so you know you’re not the only one in this world having this problem and this kind of thoughts
Beautiful video...thanks for sharing it with us all. What
