It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later…
September 6, 2009Uncle Martin
April 27, 1943 – August 20, 2009
Uncle Martin was a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a brother, a farmer, and a man of God. He was born in The Netherlands, grew up on the family farm in Canada, and started farming on his own when he was a young man. He married and raised a family of 4 wonderful children, and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and travelling, as well as being on the farm.
The times that any family came to visit were special and when Uncle Martin and family came it was no exception, as we enjoyed many conversations and laughs. I will always remember his sense of humour and his distinctly insatiable laugh, when you heard him laugh you could not help but laugh yourself. I will also never forget his hands – they were the biggest, strongest hands I have ever seen, and yet they were imperfect, as he was missing a thumb. Despite this fact, he wouldn’t let this hinder him in any way, and he could accomplish anything he wanted.
Uncle Martin, you will be missed by the many people you laughed with, cried with, and share memories with over your 66 years here with us. You will not be forgotten, and we look forward to laughing with you again someday!
